Hope you had a good week (felt long, or was it just me?). Here are some cheerful creations for you to enjoy. 🙂
Under This Moon Necklace by gemagenta. This cute, barely there necklace is customized just for you. Simply pick a date that you want to remember (your birthday, your anniversary, a special celebration, etc.) and have that date’s moon phase etched unto a darling fine silver disc. What an awesome concept and the packaging is adorable!
Ombre Cheetah Print Silk Shirt by xsilk. I usually don’t wear animal prints but this one is so subtle, bright and cruelty free! Check out Dani’s other creations too, they are so chic and colorful!
Archive Bag in Honey Brown by jennyndesign. I can’t live without a big bag (even though I spend a lot of time rummaging through it like a mad woman). This one is utilitarian meets chic. Plus I love this caramel color.
Marlene Backless Gray T-Shirt by aftertasteclothing. Sexy meets playful, this shirt can be dressed up and down.
I dropped the ball for several Fridays now, shame on me. But my Friday Finds is back for good!
Here are some wonderful handcrafted items that I consider indispensable for fall. Put them on your gift list to give or wish list to receive!
Leather oxford shoes from BaliELF. This shall go on my wish list. Love the masculine structure paired with feminine hand cut details around the lace.
How awesome is this shift dress from VandaFashion? The color blocking and graphic pattern is so body-flattering. Dress it up with a pair of heels for work or dress it down with flats and a fluffy cardigan.
I am a stationary junky and when I saw this darling pen holder from lessandmore, I instantly wished that i had cool vintage pens to store in them. Not only is it functional, it’s also a great decor for your office.
Ditch the plastic. This farmers market tote from Mclovebuddy is large enough to store all your weekend groceries, not to mention other life essentials (laptops, books, etc) when you’re not hopping around a farmers market.
Have a great weekend everyone!
This past weekend I spent some quality time at home with my parents. Instead of doing the usual shopping at the mall, my mom and I went through her drawers full of jewelry. It was a lot of fun looking at her pieces and listening to stories of how they came to be acquired.
In particular, I loved those precious and few pieces passed down from earlier generations. Their history endows them with so much personal meaning. It made me think more deeply about why we wear jewelry and how we collect jewelry. Over the years, I’ve gotten more selective about the jewelry that I buy, simply because I want to look back on them years from now and associate them with memories and feelings. Jewelry, at its best, is a conduit that connects us to our history, beliefs, hopes and dreams.
Here’s something from this weekend that will join my growing little collection of inherited pieces. It’s a simple and chic leather and gold watch that belonged to my maternal grandmother who passed away a few years ago.
Coincidentally, one of my most vivid memories from childhood is my grandmother telling me a bed time story of how her youngest little daughter (my aunt) saw a gold watch on the floor of a store and sought to return it to its owner (instead of pocketing it). I used to make her tell me the story again and again until I finally fell asleep. This watch will be a gentle reminder of our time spent together and I plan to wear it fondly for years to come.
I am so excited for fall! That is only encouraged by the recent change of temperature and the disappearance of humidity. At night, we love walking around the neighborhood, feeling the cool breeze and sporting layered clothes. How’s that for a change?
Before we know it, sweater season will be around the corner. In anticipation, here are some sweater looks I love.
What sweater style do you like?
New York Fashion Week may be over, but some looks still linger on my mind.
I heart Narciso. Crisp, clean and immaculate.
Derek Lam. That is one kickass skirt. Texture, color, personality – it’s got it all.
High drama from Jason Wu.
Restrained elegance from Altuzarra.
I’m not usually into pink or beaded gowns but this is one hot dress. Reminds me of a sari.
Love the color palette and mixture of patterns. Sophie Theallet.
Sophie Theallet #2
…in with the real deal.
This past weekend, we finally replaced my $10 cubic zirconia placeholder with a diamond ring! I had a complete “Kristen Bell sloth” moment that I’m sure we’ll look back on and treasure for years to come. Mad respect to mike for having impeccable taste and infinite patience. =)
Now onto wedding planning!
They say for a designer to choose her favorite creation is like picking a favorite child. So shhhh….I guess that makes me a bad mother. One of my favorite pieces to wear at the moment is the Madison bracelet. I love stacking a few together to form a mosaic of colors. And the best part is: each color/stone represents a different meaning. If you’re superstitious like me, then you’d want a few handy so that when the occasion calls, you know which ones to layer on! (you can check out their meanings and stories here).
So here is the best part. To celebrate the opening of Mica’s new online store, we’re giving away a Madison bracelet as a free gift for purchases over $100!
1. Visit www.micajewelsnyc.com to shop!
2. If you purchase more than $100 of goodies, simply add a note to let us know what color/size you prefer for your free gift.
3. Wait for your beautifully packaged jewelry to arrive!
Happy shopping (and an early happy weekend)!
